Quotes "My stay at UTown has been memorable thus far, and I am glad to be part of a community where there is active engagement of students in decision-making and in the organisation of activities/events. Also, the environment has a sense of vibrancy alongside diversity, where we get to interact with new friends from a variety of cultures/countries as we live, learn, work and mature together."

CELC Oral Communication Programme 2019

Do you speak before you think or do you think before you speak?

Good news!  Now you can learn how to think on your feet as you speak off the cuff with competence and dynamism, using principles and strategies of quick thinking and impromptu speaking.  The Centre for English Language Communication (CELC) is organising an Oral Communication Camp entitled ‘Speaking Off-the-cuff and Thinking On Your Feet’.  Open to all NUS undergraduate and graduate students, the 2-day Camp focuses on developing student participants’ skills in impromptu and extemporaneous speaking.

Speaking off-the-cuff and thinking on one’s feet are particularly important skills for any university student who is expected to perform well in various communication situations like interviews, group discussions, and public speaking events. University students are also expected to speak with competence, trustworthiness and dynamism on any given topic that is of general interest or is specific to his or her field of study. The 2-day camp aims at developing such skills through a series of workshops and plenary sessions with invited speakers.

Our speaker line-up includes NUS academic staff and Alumni from various fields like Business, Engineering, Law and Science. Please refer to the poster below for more information on our speakers.
